Nancy W. Somerfield, 87, briefly a resident of Colonial Courtyard in Tyrone, PA. crossed the threshold on March 22, 2010. 

She was born March 7, 1923 in Lancaster to C. Earl and Bessie (Ulmer) Welchans. Nancy was a Lancaster resident until 1997 and then resided in Lititz until July 2009.

She graduated in 1941 from J. P. McCaskey. On February 6, 1949, she married Robert P. Somerfield. The couple had two daughters, Donna and Janis. 

Since the age of fifteen, Nancy was actively involved throughout the area as both a church organist and piano accompanist. In her later years, she especially enjoyed performing with The Grandview Singers, Lancaster AARP Chorus, the Pleasant Singers and the Gap Male Chorus.

She was a member of the McCaskey Alumni where she served as historian for her class and was a former member of the steering committee for Source in Lititz. Nancy was a fourth generation Moravian.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Bob in 2006, daughter, Donna in 1988 and sister, Lois in 2007. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janis and John Lloyd of Tyrone, PA and two granddaughters: Hilary of Towson, MD and Emily, PSU student.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, Pa on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 1:00PM. Inurnment will be at Conestoga Memorial Park. Friends may pay their respects to the family from 12-1:00PM at the funeral home on Monday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Nancy's memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O.
