Mildred
Ruth "Millie" Smith, 73, of Strasburg, PA went home to be with her
Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Quarryville
Presbyterian Home Quarryville, PA. Born and raised in Monett, MO
she was the daughter of the late M. Lawrence and Maggie (Bittick)
Baker. A graduate of Monett High School and Southwest Baptist
College she married her high school sweetheart, the late Jimmy
"JD" Smith in 1956.
Millie and J.D. moved to Oklahoma
living in Midwest City and Enid. Millie was a stay at home mom
before becoming an assistant to the director of the Financial Aid
Department at Phillips University in Enid, OK for thirteen years
prior to her retirement in 1994. She served as the pianist and
organist for many years at Willow Road Christian Church, Enid.
After retirement Millie and JD moved to Strasburg, PA in 1999 to
be near family. Millie was a great southern cook, an avid reader,
loved to crochet, knit and sew. She was a member of Emmanuel
Baptist Church, Enid OK.
Millie is survived by her daughters,
Kim Smith, of Enid, OK, and Karen, wife of John Imhof of
Strasburg, 4 grandchildren, Gabe, Liz, Josh, and Lauren, and a
brother, John Baker and wife Barbara, of Monett, MO.
Come and Celebrate Millie's life at a
Memorial Service on Wednesday, Aug. 11 at 6:00 p.m. at St.
Michael's Lutheran Church 40 E. Main St. Strasburg, PA 17579 with
Pastor Jeff Bender officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions
may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, PO Box 4125,
Lancaster, PA 17604-1125.
