Catherine
M. Smith, 79, of Lititz, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010
at Hospice of Lancaster County in Mount Joy.
She was the
wife of the late Earl L. Smith, who passed away on January 26,
2010. Born in Nacetown, she was the daughter of the late Lewis L.
and Susan D. Weinhold Leedy.
Catherine had
been a homemaker and had worked as a secretary for many employers
over the years.
She was a
member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she had
been a volunteer throughout the years. She had also volunteered at
Landis Homes and at the Landis Valley Museum.
Catherine is
survived by her daughter, Elayne C. married to Tracey Olson of
Elizabethtown and her son Timothy A. married to Selena Smith of
Manchester,PA; her 4 grandchildren: Megan, Paige, Garret, and
Kendra, a great grandchild, Aiden and her stepgrandchildren:
Alexander, Kennedy, Pierce, Garyn, Delaney, and Landen. She is
also survived by her brothers Calvin Leedy of Myerstown, and
Harold Leedy of Schaefferstown. She was preceded in death by her
son, Theodore N. Smith, who died in 2009, by her 5 brothers:
Robert, Leroy, Lewis, Eugene, and Leonard Leedy, and by her 8
sisters Isabelle Putt, Verna Zwier, Carmelita Hauer, Marian
Touchstone, Doris Karli, Anedith Bowman, Naomi Thierwechter, and
Bernetta Peffley.
Friends will be
received on Monday, July 19, 2010 from 530-730PM at the West
Bethany Chapel of Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, PA.
Friends may call again on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at St. Peter's
Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601 from
10-11AM, with the Funeral Service to follow at 11AM, the Rev.
Jacquelyn Roderick officiating. Interment in Schaefferstown
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in her
