Dorothea I. Schmidt, 87, of Lititz, PA, died Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of the late John Schmidt who died in 1982. Born in Newark, NJ, Dorothea was the daughter of the late Emil L. and Selma I. Weidele Bestle.

 A homemaker, she enjoyed making crafts and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothea attended Lititz Church of the Brethren. 

Surviving Dorothea are her sons J. Gary, husband of Teresa D. O'Brien Schmidt of Lititz, PA and Donald J., husband of Diane Keeler Schmidt of Greenville, PA, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

 A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 2:30 PM at Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 W. Orange St., Lititz, PA. Private Interment in the St. Thomas Lutheran Church Memorial Gardens, Brick, NJ. Please omit flowers.
