J.
Emory Plank, 90, of Lancaster, passed away Thursday, April 29,
2010 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born and
raised in Bird-in-Hand, Pa., he was the son of the late John S.
and Clara (Bachman) Plank. Emory was the husband of the late
Shirley (Bitzer) Plank who died in 2007.
Emory proudly served his country in the United States Army 179th
Infantry 2nd Battalion during WWII. He was awarded a Purple Heart
during his service. Emory was employed by Neuhauser Store, in
Bird-in-Hand, Rapps Gas Station, Miller Brothers Vending, and most
recently Servomation Vending. At one point Emory owned and
operated his own Garage, Planks Service Station. He enjoyed
working in the yard, antiquing, friendship, going out to
breakfast, and Achenbach Long
Johns. Emory attended Bird-in-Hand Methodist Church
and St.
Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
Emory is survived by 2 sons; John E. companion of Dawn of
Lancaster, and Stephen J. husband of Frances of Lancaster. 3
granddaughters; Ashleigh, Katy, and Gloriann. A great
granddaughter; Cheyenne. 2 sisters; Mary Fritz and Ruth Herr both
of Lancaster. A brother in law; Jack Bitzer husband of Nancy of
Lancaster. 4 sisters in law; Margaret Koser wife of Eugene of
Lancaster, Nancy Groff of Leola, Mary Kay Hensel of Ephrata, and
Linda Mellot wife of Rodney of Fl. And numerous cousins, nieces,
nephews, and friends.
The Plank family would like to thank Davita Dialysis, Quarryville
Presbyterian Nursing Home, Evergreen Estates, and Hospice of
Lancaster County for all of their support and care for Emory and
his family.

A Christian Prayer Service will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at
11 a.m. the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St.,
Lancaster 17602. Family and friends will be received Tuesday, May
4, 2010 at the funeral home from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. and again on
Wednesday before the service from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Interment will
follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers
