Jerry
M. Miller, 77, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010 at
Hospice of Lancaster County's Essa Flory Hospice Center after a
brief illness.
Born in Lancaster September 28, 1932
along with his twin sister, Johann, Jerry was the son of the late
Vernon S. and Alice Mary (Wise) Groff. He was married for 40
years to Anne H. Miller.
A graduate of J.P. McCaskey High
School, Jerry attended Lancaster Business College, earning a
degree in Engineering.
Jerry retired from Armstrong World
Industries, where he was employed as a Drafting Engineer in the
Research and Development Center. Jerry was also employed by Safe
Harbor Water Power Corporation, DeWalt Corporation, was an
Associate Realtor with Charles Real Estate, and worked in the
security dept. of Dutch Wonderland. He also owned and managed the
Comfort Inn Gift Shop for 25 years.
Jerry was a former member of
Millersville Borough Council, and worked at the voting polls at
Grandview Methodist Church through the 2009 elections. He enjoyed
baseball, and was an avid Barnstormers fan. He loved going to
Hershey Park, riding his bike and working out at the Universal
Athletic Club.
In addition to his wife, Jerry is
survived by his children, Vicki L., wife of Thomas J. Legath of
Lancaster, Lesli M., married to Robert S. Binford of Lancaster,
Jerry M. Miller, Jr., husband of Julie of Columbia, step-children,
Jeffrey D. Lefever, husband of Laurie of Washington Boro, Sharron
A., wife of Greg Beears, of Ephrata, Stephen D. Lefever of
Millersville, and Kevin D. Lefever, husband of Susan, of Linden,
PA, 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, twin sister Johann,
wife of Russell Powell, of Seabrook, MD, and sister, Patricia
Miller, of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his brothers,
Vernon S. Groff, Jr., Galen Groff, and James Miller.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of
Jerry's life will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 1:00 PM at
Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike,
Lititz, PA. Family will receive guests from 12 until 1 PM.
Entombment will take place in Conestoga Memorial Park Mausoleum.
