Rose
R. LaMonaca, 89, of Lancaster, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at
Hospice of Lancaster County in Mount Joy. She was the wife of the
late Joseph S. La Monaca, who died in 1989. Born in Philadelphia,
she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Orlandina Cramasta
Mercurio.
A homemaker,
Rose was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, where she
was very active in R.C.I.A. and hospitality. She enjoyed quilting,
sewing, reading, bowling and gardening. Her favorite hobbies
included cooking for family and friends and bargain shopping.
Surviving are
her daughter Rita, wife of Frederick Lane of Lancaster; three
granddaughters, Susan, wife of Michael Loney, Paula, wife of
Nathan Westerman and Karen, wife of William Scepansky, all of
Lancaster; eight great-grandchildren (the jewels in her crown);
and her brother Domenic, husband of Cecelia Mercurio of Long Port,
NJ. Her siblings Helena Birmele, Anthony Mercurio and Rita Zepp
preceded Rose in death.
A Mass of
Christian Burial will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic, 601 E.
Delp Road, Lancaster on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at 10 AM with The
Rev. Msgr. Richard A. Youtz officiating. Interment will follow in
St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. A Viewing will be held on Monday,
May 10, 2010, from 6 to 8 PM, with the Rosary recited at 7:30 PM,
at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz
Pike, Lititz, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in
Rose's memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, PO Box 4125,
