Robert F. "Bob" Krimmel, 84, of Lancaster, PA died due to
complications from a long illness of Parkinsons disease on
Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Village Vista. He was born in
Lancaster and was the son of the late Frank and Blanche (Longsdorf)
Krimmel.
Bob is survived by his wife Barbara A. (Hemler) Krimmel. They
were married in Lancaster on June 11, 1949 at St. Anthony of Padua
Catholic Church and just celebrated there 60th wedding
anniversary.
Bob was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church.
He served his country in WWII with the US Navy from 1943-1946
in the Pacific.
Bob was involved in the family brick laying business of Frank
A. Krimmel. He then became a realtor with Dick Harnish for nine
years. In 1989, he retired as Director of Housing and Chief of
Inspections with Lancaster City after twenty years.
In 2007, Bob was inducted into the Lancaster Catholic High
School Sports Hall of Fame. He was an avid LCHS sports fan. Bob
played varsity football and basketball for LCHS. Before graduating
from LCHS class of 1943 as class president, he entered into the US Navy and received
his diploma upon completion of his Naval service. He was a former
president of LCHS Athletic Association.
Bob held memberships with Millersville VFW Post #7294,
Lancaster Elks Lodge #134, and Knights of Columbus Council #867.
He was also an avid Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and 76ers
fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, son
Robert S. Krimmel, of Lancaster, daughter Cindy A. Krimmel, of
Lancaster, and two step-grandchildren Matt and John Wiegand. He
was preceded in death by a grandson, Jared Laudenberger and
brother, Richard Krimmel.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the
Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 1pm at
St. Leo the Great Catholic Church 2427 Marietta Ave. Lancaster, PA
17601 with Rev. Peter I. Hahn as Celebrant. A viewing will take
place from 12noon-1pm at the church. Final farewell and
commendation will take place at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery
with Military Rites accorded by the Red Rose Honor Guard. In lieu
of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Leo the
Great Catholic Church or to Lancaster Catholic Athletic
Association 650 Juliette Ave. Lancaster, PA 17601. Arrangements
