 Genevieve
M. Kauffman, 95, of York, died peacefully at Hospice of Lancaster
County on Thursday, January 14th, 2010.
Born in Clearfield County PA, and daughter of Andrew and Anna (Dipko)
Charney, she moved to York, where she worked for the Columbia Gas
company until her retirement in 1971.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Hon was an independent and
resilient soul, and enjoyed volunteering, gardening, discussing
politics, and current events. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed
watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penn State football, and her
beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. She had a quick wit, a great sense
of humor and kept physically and mentally active well into her
90's.
She was a longtime member of Saint Joseph's Church in York, and
recently a member of Historic Saint Mary's Church in Lancaster.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, and her
son Jay, and is survived by two grandchildren; Christy N. Futch,
and Joshua, both of South Carolina, a brother, Andrew Charney of
State College, and a large extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 22, 2010
at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 601 E. Delp Rd. Lancaster
17601 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Savior Cemetery in
York, PA.
