Charles
"Juker" Haines, Jr. 86, of Moravian Manor passed away surrounded
by his loving family on Friday, October 15, 2010. He was born in
Lancaster to the late Charles Sr. and Elsie Haines.
Charles is
survived by his wife, Helen J. (Batzer) Haines and they celebrated
63 years of marriage.
Charles was a
member of Otterbein United Methodist Church where he was a
trustee, usher, communion steward, and took care of the church
flowers with the help of his wife.
He was a
Veteran of WWII serving with the US Navy. Charles was a crew
member aboard the USS Norman Scott DD690 Fletcher Class Destroyer.
Charles was a
1943 graduate of J.P. McCaskey.
He was a lab
technician with Armstrong Research and Development and held
several U.S. patents. Charles played on the Armstrong softball
team.
He was an avid
St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Redskins fan. He also enjoyed
woodworking in his spare time.
Surviving in
addition to his wife, two sons, Robert C. Haines, husband of Mary
Ann, of Lititz, James S. Haines, husband of Tammy, of Lancaster,
three grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, and Margaret Haines, and
four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son,
Thomas, daughter-in-law, Lisa, grandson, Kevin, two sisters, and
four brothers.
Relatives and
friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Service on
Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 10am at the Charles F. Snyder Jr.
Funeral Home & Crematory 3110 Lititz Pk. Lititz, PA 17543 with The
Rev. Jeff Batzer and Debra Davis officiating. A closed casket
visitation with the family will take place at Snyder's from
9-10am. Interment will be private at the Landis Valley Mennonite
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made
to Otterbein United Methodist Church c/o Trustees 20 E. Clay St.
