Dearest Rick and family,
Thinking of you every minute and hugging you so hard in our
hearts.
Very fondly,
Jim and Nancy Wright
I will miss my cousin Gary and his presence so
much. He was bigger than life and always made you feel full of
the same exuberance when you were with him! I will miss the fun
loving person my Dad was (Bob Funk) when they were together. I
loved how they were both like little kids again, frolicking on
Uncle Paul's farm every time they were together. How well I
remember when he and Carol first got married and visiting them
at their apartment. Going to visit when Gary was first digging
out that long, long driveway back to his home in the woods. I
was just a kid, but I have cherished these memories through the
years. He will be missed.
Aunt Dottie, Toby, Leanne, Carol, Rick Daddy and the rest of my
family: we are thinking of you and sending our love and
prayers. I know that Gary is up in Heaven right now, showing
the Angels "how it's done". I think if we listen close enough
we can probably hear him! :)
Love, Wendy J. Funk and family
Dear Aunt Dottie, Rick, Carol and children,
Our hearts are very heavy over your loss. Gary was a great
cousin who lit up a room with his voice and storytelling. I
remember visits to the farm with mom and dad with all the boy
cousins outside shooting, driving golf balls, or just sharing
stories. I have many fond memories of the families being
together to eat a feast, a Funk reunion, share a holiday or just
visit. He will be missed by his family and friends. May God's
peace give you comfort and please know you will be in our
prayers.

I knew Gary for 23 years from ordering Cat
parts from Cleveland Brothers. He was always a person so full of
life who really knew his stuff when it came to working on Cat
equipment.Gary was devastated when I told him that my wife had
breast cancer, he even took the time from his busy schedule to
send her a get well card, which was very thoughtful. We always
had a blast at his corn roasts.Gary was 60 & you would think he
was in his 30's.He was one customer that I always liked talking
to.He will be surely missed.

I sometimes stand at the edge of my garage and
look down over the hill to Gary' s and wonder how and why this
world can keep turning the way it does.
I met Gary on the lane between the last 2 snow storms and he
mentioned again "We'll have to get that big oak down before the
leaves come out on the trees." But the big old oak tree at the
bridge will have to keep standing, and for a long time to, I
hope.
With deepest sympathy to all the family, friends and those that
will miss Gary also.
Larry and Frieda Reiter, the neighbors at the top of the hill.
Mrs. Funk & Ricky - We are so sorry for your
loss. Glenn will always have fond memories of growing up next
door and getting in trouble with Gary on more than one
occasion! It is so true: "His personality and voice could fill
the room." May you always hold him close to your hearts.
You are in our thoughts - please take care.
Glenn & Anna Stauffer
Dear beloved members of Gary's family,
I just wanted to let you know how much Gary's passing has
saddened me. I grew to know him thru a previous relationship
with my sister Anne. He was a dear, understanding, unconditional
loving person. Sadly, she did not appreciate, unconditionally,
that loving, caring person. Truly, my heart goes out to his wife
and children, brother Rick, ESPECIALLY,( I think we met at some
point at one of Gary's past, infamous, barbeques, gathering of
BIG TIME!!! friends). To the wife and children and others I
never met, it was an honor and privilege to know such a loving,
great person, a friend forever, Cathy Reinhold P.S., I've heard
thru the years that Gary still had a blooming and SUPER fragrant
Jasmine plant that he got from me, years ago, as a cutting. If,
by any chance and/or act of love, it's needing a home, and/or
someone who really would care and cherish a cutting, please,
someone in the family contact me...it was one of those things I
always meant to go see Gary and talk about, but never
did...extra reason to feel regret....stay strong family, you
have good memories of a SUPER good person, and, as I read in the
obituary, he had a voice "that would fill a room and ALWAYS will
be remembered FONDLY!!!!'
Lovingly and forever fondly,
Cathy Reinhold
Dear Aunt Dottie, Rick, Carol, Toby, Leanne
and friends: I am so sorry for your loss of cherished son, only
brother, husband, and Father. Words are inadequate to describe
your feelings of loss. . . .
I have known Gary forever. First cousins and family on Mom's
side often got together when we were young; Aunt Dottie and
Uncle Rich would host an Easter Egg Hunt every year for all the
cousins on both sides of their family. They used real eggs back
then! and I marveled that Gary not only found so many eggs, but
that he would also just stop and eat a hard boiled egg as he was
completing the hunt!
He was full of mischief and fun and his laughter was so
contagious. His stories of family adventures are endless and
will always be remembered. Does anyone remember that he and
other cousins rolled my VW Bug down the hill at one of the egg
hunts when we were older? I went to leave and could not find my
car! while he was laughing up a storm! He had a good heart and I
know he is and will be so missed by his family and friends.
Our prayers for comfort and peace are with you all and may
memories of him be ever present and sweet.
love, Babs & Family
Rick, you have my deepest sympathy, I was
really saddened to read this in the newspaper. I will never
forget the good times growing up with you and Gary years ago.

I grieve with you. Gary was so good to me when
I was married to Bob. My heart breaks for Dottie and Rick and
Bob. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you. I still
hold all the Funk/Baublitz family in my heart. God be with you,
always, but especially during this time of grief. Gary will live
on forever in all of hearts and memories and thru his children.
