Fred S. Fry

Fred S. Fry, 73, of Lancaster, and formerly of Landisville, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010 at Conestoga View.

He was the husband of the late Gloria J. Saunders Fry, who passed away in 2004. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Walter T. and Bertha Shultz Fry.

Fred had been a mechanical technician for the former Pfizer Corporation for 15 years, until his retirement in 2004. He had also held the same position at Alcoa Inc for 27 years until its closing. During his time at Pfizer, he had served as the union president for several years.

Fred had attended trade school for machining and tool and die work. A true tradesman, he used his varied skills and experience doing carpentry, masonry, and cement work for many people.

He enjoyed golfing and bowled with the Alcoa team.

Fred was a member of Hempfield United Methodist Church.

He was US Navy veteran.

He is survived by his sons  Mark married to Kelly Fry of York and Eric married to Jen Fry of Lititz; his stepsons Tom married to Denise Hall of Lancaster, Dr. Matthew married to Kit Hall of Santa Rosa, CA and Patrick married to Lorraine Hall of Charlotte, NC; 9 grandchildren; his sister Anna Fry of Lancaster and brother, Harold Fry of Leola. He was preceded in death by his brothers John and Vernon.

Friends will be received on Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 10-11AM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, with the Funeral Service to follow at 11AM, the Rev. Dr. Ed Barlow officiating. Interment in Long Memorial United Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Fred's memory to Hempfield United Methodist Church, 3050 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. We will all miss Fred very much. He was always making us laugh with his funny jokes. He was a true character. He was a great patient to take care of.

I want to tell Fred family I am sorry for your lost.It was such a pleasure and honor to have know Fred and to known him while he was at Oak Leaf Manor.
He always had a beautiful smile and a hearty laugh.
I always will remember how he always keep me inform what was going on when I was working and the Nascar race was on.
