 Sarah
E. Fitzgerald, 83, of Lancaster, PA, died Sunday, October 10, 2010
at ESSA Flory Hospice Center. She was the wife of Hugh J.
Fitzgerald, and they celebrated 27 years of marriage this past
May. Born in Chester, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clinton
and Ruth Smith. She was a former resident of Springfield Township
in Delaware County, for 32 years before moving to Lancaster in
1991. Sarah was formerly married to the late Frank Polinsky for
26 years. He died in 1976.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was a member of First United Methodist Church of
Lancaster and a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church
in Chester and Covenant Methodist Church in Springfield where she
spent many years as a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a
former member and past president of "To Live Again"; a widow
support group, where she met her current husband, Hugh. Sarah
loved spending time with her family, playing cards and games with
her friends, and she enjoyed travel, especially cruises.
Survivors: Children, Ellen R. Kassebohm of Ridley Park, Carol L.
Lynch of Bethel, Stephen F. Polinsky of Sewell, NJ, Sandra J.
Coleman of Aston; three step-children, Hugh J. Jr., James T. and
Loretta A.; sister, Jean Shroyer of Clearwater, FL; eight
grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren;
nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 3
PM at Woodcrest Villa, Eagle Wing, Eagle Commons Room with Chaplin
Miriam Cruz officiating.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 11
AM from Minshall-Shropshire Funeral Home 608 S. Old Middletown
Road, Media, PA (610)-876-4213. The viewing will be held at the
funeral home in Media, PA from 10-11 AM. Interment: Edgewood
Memorial Park, Concord Township, Delaware County. Contributions in
