Robert T. Evans Sr, 87, of Lancaster died Friday, April 23, 2010 at York Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Edgar E. and Emma Gardner Evans Winter.

He was the husband of the late Dorothy M. Arment Evans who went home to be with her God in December, 2000.

Robert was a retired Union Millwright with Local United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners.

Robert enlisted in the Navy in October 1942 and then volunteered for submarine service. He was a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Robert was active as a Troop Leader in the Boy scouts of America.

 He was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and served on their Church Council before joining the Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1980. At the Seventh Day Adventist Church, he served as a lay Pastor for two years.

 He is survived by six children: Sandra Evans Herr, Robert T. Jr. husband of Sandy Evans, Daryl J. husband of Donna Evans, Bruce A. Evans, Wendy Sue Evans, David S. Evans, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and a sister, Thelma Snyder.

He was preceded in death by his brother: Stanley Evans.

 Funeral Services will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, Pa on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 11:00AM with Pastor Tom Hennlein officiating. Interment will follow in Conestoga Memorial Park. Friends may view at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11:00AM.
