Marianne W.
Ervin, 83, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at
the Mennonite Home. She was born in Manheim on June 12, 1927 to
the late Raymond and Elmyra (Connelly) Weicksel.
She was
preceded in death by her husband, E. Lynn Ervin in 2008.
She was a
member of Trinity Lutheran Church. As a member of the church
Marianne was known for her vocal talent and was a soloist for the
church for over twenty-five years.
Marianne
graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1945 and Millersville
College in 1949
Marianne
worked in the advertising department for Amstrong World Industries
from 1949-1985. She later was employed by the Kelly Michener Inc.
Advertising Agency from 1985-1995.
Marianne was a
major star in many local musicals including Plain and Fancy,
Little Abner, Music Man, The Pajama Game, and The Most Happy Fella.
She starred in Music Man with her husband. Marianne was a soloist
at several of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra shows, the
Armstrong Industrial Shows for twenty-five years, the Armstrong
Chorus, and a member of the Music Comedy Guild. She sang many
productions for the Lancaster Kiwanis Club at the Fulton Theatre.
She enjoyed
singing Karaoke on her vacations to Avalon and Stone Harbor and
sang at many local weddings and funeral services.
She was
preceded in death by a sister Betty Jane Wagner and brother J.
Ardnt Weicksel.
A private
interment will be held at Trinity Lutheran Memorial Garden. In
lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Trinity
Lutheran Church 31 S. Duke St. Lancaster, PA 17602. Arrangements
