Like a spiritual candle, Karen had the gift of using the flame of her wisdom to reignite the hearts of those close to her.  The insights she shared with her sponsees often conveyed a level of energy that lifted us above the tone of our minds.  Her capacity for listening deeply to us reawakened our hopes, mended our spirits and taught us how to squeeze the marrow out of the moments in life.

While she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on through those of us who will always love her.

I was looking at the Jacksonville paper and was shocked to see Karen's picture. I so much enjoyed seeing her at our 40th reunion last summer and meeting you. She was so light and happy and by her obituary I know she had much love from friends and family. I know she will be missed in this physical life, however she will live on in the hearts of all she touched. Take care of yourself and may your memories help to comfort you.

Karen was my best friend when we were kids, although I had to share her with Karen's imaginary friend, "Carlson!"  Karen, and her mom, dad, and sister, Lois, welcomed me to their home in Jacksonville, Illinois summer after summer.

Our hearts go out to you Steve, Christopher, Lois, and the countless friends whose lives were truly changed by Karen.

Please accept my deep condolences on the loss of your dear one.

I have found that the Bible provides much comfort during these distressing times.  First of all at  2 Corinthians 1:3, it states "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort."  As the creator of mankind, Jehovah is deeply saddened at the death of any us.  He did not create us to live a short time and then die.  We were created to live forever and that purpose will soon come to past.  That means that dear ones like your Karen will not get sick and die (Revelation 21:4).  The Bible also holds out the hope of your seeing Karen again by means of the resurrection that is spoken of at Acts 24:15.
You may not feel like reading these scriptures right now, but hold on to these for a later date when you are able to do so.  You will find much comfort and hope by reflecting on these promises that God has made.

Dear Steve, Robert, and Christopher and family - We are truly sorry for your loss. Even though we have not been close in recent years nor shared our trials and tribulations for a long time, we always felt connected through our past associations, and your loss is ours as well. We will always remember the happy times at weddings and family occasions and Marg especially, - her friendship with Karen going back to the "Good old Days" in Boston and visiting Lancaster County as well, whose magical attraction brought them there in the first place. From there many new friendships and relationships developed, spread, and flourished. We are certain she will be missed by many for all the zest for living she brought into this world, as well as her good deeds. May she rest in peace for a job well done.
