Dorothy
E. "Dottie" Boyer, 75, of Lancaster, took the hand of her guardian
angel and was escorted home to heaven on Wednesday, April 21,
2010. She was born in Lancaster to the late Paul J. and Dorothy A.
(Cremer) Sterback.
Dottie is
survived by her loving husband John C. Boyer of fifty-five years.
They were married on June 26, 1954. The past twelve years Dottie
provided loving and dedicated care after her husband's strokes.
She was a
longtime member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church.
Dottie
graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1952.
She retired as
a clerk in Prothonotary office at the Lancaster County Courthouse.
Dottie was
involved with many organizations, memberships, and clubs
throughout her life; she was First Treasurer of St. Leo Guild,
First President of Mothers of Scouts of St. Leo's, the Auxiliary
of the Knights of Columbus Council 867, Women of St. Leo the
Great, Past Treasurer of the Marine Corp League Auxiliary, the
Military Order of Devil Dog Fleas, the Auxiliary of the Dominican
Sisters, the Auxiliary of Sisters of the Precious Blood, St. John
Neumann Seniors, Park City Twalkers, Centerville Unit of AARP, St.
Leo the Great Friendship Club, Guys and Dolls of St. Philips, Red
Hat Society-Classy Cardinals, and the Alumnae of the Holy Cross.
She also enjoyed in recent years working with the Hempfield School
District elementary school children through the senior tax relief
program.
Dottie loved
spending time with her family, friends, and companion dog,
Jacques.
Surviving in
addition to her husband, two sons, John C. Boyer, Jr. husband of
Lynn A., of Lancaster, Jeffrey C. Boyer, of Ambler, PA, five
grandchildren, Jayne L. Wenig, husband of Kyle, Justin D. Boyer,
Whitney L. Boyer, Philip M. Boyer, Rachel E. Boyer, and one great
grandson, Anderson J. Wenig.

and the Oyster Point Family Health Center Staff, Dr. Mark
Burlingame, LGH ICU Staff, and Hospice of Lancaster County Mt.
Joy, for their comfort and care that they extended to Dottie.
Relatives and
friends are respectively invited to attend the Mass of Christian
Burial from St. Leo the Great Catholic Church 2427 Marietta Ave.
Lancaster, PA 17601 on Monday April 26, 2010 at 11:30am with the
Rev. Peter I. Hahn as Celebrant. Viewings will be held on Sunday
evening at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home 414 E. King St.
Lancaster, PA from 7-9pm, with the Holy Rosary Recitation at
8:30pm and again at the church one hour prior to the Mass. Family
and friends are invited after Mass to a luncheon to share memories
in the social hall of St. Leo's. Interment will be held private at
St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
