 Charles
B. "Buzz" Zimmerman, Jr., 76, of Conestoga, died at Lancaster
General Hospital on Tuesday, October 6, 2009. He was the husband
of Betty M. Gerhart Zimmerman for 58 years. Born in Lancaster,
Buzz was the son of the late Charles B. and Ida Scheid Zimmerman.
He served in
the US Army as a medical corpsman and ambulance driver during the
Korean Conflict. Buzz then worked as a self-employed excavator. He
enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing, traveling to his
camp in Clearfield County, doing puzzles and spending time with
his family.
In addition
to his wife Betty, Buzz is survived by two sons, Robert C.,
husband of Barbara N. Bachman Zimmerman and Alan L. Zimmerman,
both of Lancaster; two granddaughters, Heather Zimmerman of
Lancaster and Lynne Zimmerman of Delta; seven great-grandchildren;
and two sisters, Betty "Dolly" Jackson of Strasburg and Ida "Sis",
wife of Donald Smith of Duncannon. His grandson Andrew Zimmerman
preceded Buzz in death in 2001.
A viewing will
be take place on Friday from 1 to 2 PM at the Charles F. Snyder
Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, followed by the funeral
at 2 PM, with the Reverend Steve D. Doutrich officiating.
