Naomi
Ruth Wright, 72, surrounded by her loving family departed life
peacefully on Jan. 4, 2009 at the Hospice Home in Cleveland, Ohio,
after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 5, 1936 in
Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Samuel J. and Wright
and Ozella I. Wilson Wright Timmons.
Naomi was
educated in the Lancaster City School System. She was baptized and
raised in Bethel A.M.E. Church, where she sang in the junior
choir. She was a proud Flag Bearer for the Elks Drum& Bugle Core
(Conestoga #140) as a teenager. As a young woman she moved to Ohio
and worked for the U.S. Post Office where she later retired.
She is
survived by a son, Michael C. husband of Nancy Wright of York,
three grandchildren; Donielle Preston, Garrett Wright, Curtis
Wright, a sister, Gladys M. Moore of York, two nephews; Theodore
and Warren Wright, of University Hts, Ohio, three Aunts; Doris
Wilson Boins, Gloria Wilson Giles, Mildred Outz a uncle, Vance
Wilson, brother in law, Victor (Jack) Shelton, a host of nieces,
nephews, and cousins.
She was
preceded in death by a sister; Dolores F. Wright Shelton, two
brothers; Samuel and Elmer Wright.
A Funeral
service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E.
King Street, Lancaster on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11:00AM.
Interment will be in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. There will be a
viewing at the funeral home from 10-11AM. In lieu of flowers, a
memorial contribution may be made to Hospice or Cancer Society in
