Lester
"Shorty" A. Turner, 73, of Willow Street, PA. died Monday, October
19, 2009 at his home. Born in Rawlinsville, PA, he was the son of
Ethel L. Alexander Turner Felsinger of Lancaster and the late
Albert L. Turner and stepson of late John Felsinger. He was the
husband of the late Esther (Essie) M. Huber Turner, who died
January, 2, 2009.
Lester was an
electrician for 42 years and was a 40 year member of the IBEW
Local 414 and 743. He served as business manager and financial
secretary for IBEW Local 414. His memberships included Lamberton
Lodge #476, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Lodge #19, Shrine of
Harrisburg, and Marticville United Methodist Church where he was
very active. He served as a trustee and was a treasurer of the
church. Previously he served on the Board of United Way, Salvation
Army,
and on the Advisory Board for VoTech Schools of Lancaster County.
He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and umpired
Little League Baseball.
Surviving are
two daughters: Suzanne C. wife of John Wickersham, Lancaster,
Sandra L. Glackin, New Providence, a son; Richard A. husband of
Elizabeth Turner, Willow Street, and seven grandchildren: Henry,
Samantha, Connor, Gillian Glackin, Brittney Turner, Kaitlyn and
Morgan Wickersham, a sister, Edna M. Myers, Lancaster and a
brother, Richard L. husband of Beverly Turner, Mountville.
A Funeral
Service will be held at Marticville United Methodist Church, 641
Marticville Road, Pequea, PA on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at
11:00 AM with Rev. Len Calhoun officiating. Interment will be in
the Marticville UMC Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects to
the family at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home 441 N. George
Street, Millersville, PA on Friday night from 7-9:00PM and on
Saturday at the church from 10-11:00 AM. Please omit flowers.
