Edward
F. Rottmund, 85, of Lancaster Pa died Thursday, Jan 1, 2009 at
Landis Homes. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Peter
and Mary Freund Rottmund. Edward worked at Armstrong on the
production line for 43 years.
He served in
the US Army during World War II in the Anti Tank Company 168th
Infantry Regiment, 34th division, in North Africa,
Italy and participated in Anzio Landing. He was awarded two Purple
Hearts, the Oak Leaf Cluster and four Campaign Ribbons.
His
memberships included; St. Anne's Catholic Church, life membership
Knight of Columbus 3rd degree #867, American Legion,
Lititz Post 56, AMVETS Post #19 Lancaster, Millersville VFW Post #
7294, Disabled Vet Association, life member of 34th
Infantry Division Association, Moose #299, 8th Ward
Club, life member Hubley Club, and Ephrata Elks Lodge #1933.
He was a proud
owner of 25 Cadillacs, since 1953.
Surviving is
a brother Robert C. husband of Mary Rottmund of Lancaster, and
nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret
Treier, and two brothers; Peter H. Rottmund and Leon J. Rottmund.
Mass of
Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church,
Liberty and North Duke Streets, Lancaster, PA on Friday, January
9, 2009 at 10:30AM. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National
Cemetery at 1:30PM. There will be a viewing at the Charles F.
Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel , 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA
on Thursday Night from 7-9PM with the Rosary recited at 8:30 PM
and a viewing on Friday Morning at the funeral home from 9-
