Deacon Pedro Rivera, 80, of Lancaster, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Conestoga View.  Born in Comerio, Puerto Rico, Pedro was the son of the late Antonio Lopez and Olivia Rivera.  He was married for fifty-two years to Marcola Martinez Rivera. 

A member of San Juan Bautista Catholic Church, Pedro was an ordained deacon with the Archdiocese of Newark, NJ.

 In addition to his wife, Pedro is survived by his children, Lydia M. Montes, Madeline Martinez, Rosemary Montes, Pedro Rivera, all of Lancaster, and Brenda Santiago of St. Petersburg, FL, nineteen grandchildren, and fifteen greatgrandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his daughter, Nelsa Martinez. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 10AM at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church, 425 S. Duke St., Lancaster, PA 17602 with Rev. Allan Wolfe as Celebrant.  Viewings will be held at the church Wednesday evening from 5:30 until 8 PM and Thursday morning from 9 until 10 AM.
