Frederick
James Richmond, 64, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Friday,
November 20, 2009 at Lancaster General Hospital and in the care of
Hospice of Lancaster County. He was born on August 3, 1945 in
Pittsburgh, PA. Fred, a nuclear piping designer and college
graduate, worked 25 years for Burns and Roe Corporation in
Oradell, NJ. He was instrumental in the recovery efforts at Three
Mile Island in 1979. He spent his life devoted to his family and
friends.
Fred is
survived by his beloved wife Margaret (Napper) Richmond and his
three sons: Frederick James Richmond Jr. husband of Lesley of
Stroudsburg, PA, Dr. Keith S. Richmond of Sewell, NJ. and Dr. Chad
E. Richmond husband of Tammy of Mickleton, NJ. He is survived by
two granddaughters: Victoria Anne Richmond of CA and Emily
Margaret Richmond of NJ. He was survived by his mother in law,
Martha A. Napper- Burns of Pittsburgh, PA. He was preceded in
death by his father, Morris F. Richmond and mother Marion V.
(Cato) Richmond and two brothers and a sister.
Fred was
member of Freemason's Milnor Lodge #287 in Pittsburgh, PA, as well
as Unified Lodge #2, Independent Order of Odd Fellows in
Pittsburgh. After living in Pittsburgh for the first 25 years of
his life, Fred worked and lived with his family in Northern New
Jersey, before relocating to Lancaster, PA in 2001.
Fred remained
a lifelong learner. A devout Christian, Fred was an avid reader of
the Bible and was always willing to engage in conversation about
the Bible. We will always remember Fred's smile, laugh, jokes and
how he was always the joy of our lives. Fred was the rock of our
family and he will be dearly missed. He is finally at rest with
our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
A Funeral
Service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and
Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA on Sunday, Nov 29, 2009 at
3:00PM. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Sunday from
1-3:00PM. Interment will be in the Mausoleum at the Mount Royal
Memorial Park, 2700 Mount Royal Blvd, Glenshaw, PA on Monday,
November 30, 2009 at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family
request for donations to be made in Fred's memory to Hospice of
