Henry R.
Richards, 87, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, November 9,
2009.
He was the
husband of Ruth Shepard Richards, with whom he celebrated 63 years
of marriage. He was the son of the late Matthias and Margaret
Reineke Richards.
Henry worked
as a consultant of health and safety systems for the General
Electric Corporation until his retirement in 1968.
A US Army Air
Corps veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater.
Henry was a
graduate of Swarthmore College. He was a member of St. Peters
Evangelical Lutheran Church.
In addition to
his wife, he is survived by his 3 daughters: Jennifer Roeper of
Naples, FL, Susan R. Richards-Hallstein married to Harold
Hallstein of Lincoln, MA, and Dr. Joanne Richards of Roseburg, OR;
3 grandchildren, and his sister, Margaret Ann Stockmar of
Larchmont, NY.
Friends will
be received on Sunday from 2-2:30PM at the Charles F. Snyder
Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, with the
funeral service to follow at 2:30PM. Interment on Monday at 11AM
in the Augustus Lutheran Cemetery in Trappe, PA. In lieu of
flowers, please make contributions in Henry's memory to the
General Scholarship Fund at Muhlenberg College, 2400 W. Chew St.,
