Gary
C. Mundorf, 75, of Lancaster, died Thursday, March 19, 2009 after
a brief illness.
Born in
Central Manor, Lancaster, PA, Gary was the son of the late Lloyd
B. and Jeanette V. (Miller) Mundorf. He and his wife Bonnie F.
(Merkel) Mundorf celebrated 44 years of marriage this past October
31, 2008.
Gary, with his
brother, Howard, co-owned Mundorf's Hotel Swan, for over thirty
years, before retiring in 1990.
Gary served as
a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a
member of Grandview United Methodist Church.
Gary had a
great love of life and family, and was always an excellent
provider for his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor, with
his boyish teasing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren,
family, and friends. He also enjoyed cooking.
He was a
member of Lancaster Elks Lodge #134 BPOE for fifty-one years,
Conestoga Area Historical Society, Lamberton Lodge #476 F. & A.M.,
Lancaster Shrine Club, a Scottish Rite Mason, and volunteered to
drive fellow veterans to Lebanon VA Hospital.
He was a
volunteer and current board member of Dollars for Scholars. Gary
loved to detail cars, and drive his Miata Limited M.
Surviving in
addition to his wife, are daughters, Tracy L. M. Dubensky, wife of
Harold J., of West Hempfield Twp., Jodi Carole Adams, wife of
Timothy J., of Lancaster, grandchildren, Angela and Andrea
Dubensky, Ethan Mundorf, and Carlynn, Aubry and Quinn Adams,
sister, Fay M.Grissinger, wife of Earl H., of Oxford, MS, and
brother, Howard L. Mundorf, husband of Karen S., of Lancaster. He
was preceded in death by a sister, Carole A. Erb.
Funeral
Services will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 11 AM at
Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike,
Lititz, PA 717-560-5100 with Rev. Michael I. Alleman officiating.
A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 PM and again
Wednesday morning from 10 until 11 AM at the funeral home.
Interment will be in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Military
Honors will be rendered by the Red Rose Veteran Honor Guard. In
