Isabelle
Mentzer Mead, aged 84, of Lancaster went to be with her Lord
Friday, December 18, 2009. She was born in Pottstown, PA, the
daughter of the late Verna (Wahl) and Harry Mentzer. After
graduating from Pottstown High School, Isabelle earned her degree
from Southern Seminary and Junior College.
She is
survived by her brother and sister-in-law, George and Joanne (Yohn)
Mentzer, son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Sydne Fredrickson,
daughter and son-in-law, Donna (Schulz) and John Rittersbacher.
Also Surviving are three grandchildren, Karin, Julie and Todd, one
great-grandson, Brennen, and a nephew, Donald. She was preceded in
death by her husband Robert, brother, Harry and nephew, David.
Residing in
Lancaster since 1985, she became secretary and member of
Bird-In-Hand United Methodist Church. Areas of volunteer service
included Coterie, Manheim Township Public Library and the Shelter
for Abused Women. Some of her favorite activities were playing
cards, golfing, reading, attending Broadway shows, dining and
dancing. In her most recent years, she liked baking cookies and
making her famous peanut brittle, which she lovingly shared with
family and friends. She also found great joy in tending her
wonderful flower garden and spending time with her family.
A private
service will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Pottstown.
