Walter
D. McKaige, 64, of Manheim, and formerly of Philadelphia, passed
away on Thursday at Hospice of Lancaster County in Mt. Joy.
Born in
Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Stella Pierce
McKaige. He was the husband of Bonnie C. Steberger McKaige, with
whom he celebrated 40 years of marriage this past September 28th.
Walter was a
graduate of Drexel University, earning both his Bachelors and
Masters Degrees in Business Administration. He served as the
President of the APICS chapter of York and Lancaster counties, as
well as President of the Men's Club in the Daylesford Abbey.
While working
for the Unisys Corporation, he helped author a book on Quality
Control. He had worked for the National Seminar Group, where he
served as Workshop Leader and Consultant.
From 1964 to
1975, Walter served in the US Marine Corps where he was honorably
discharged.
He donated his
time and energy to multiple charities and was a deeply religious
man, being a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
In addition to
his wife, Walter is survived by his sons: Craig Andrew McKaige of
Philadelphia and Dominick Matthew McKaige of West Chester, and by
his siblings: Patrick of Ridley park, PA, Marie Gethin of
Philadephia, Aloysius of Tacoma, WA, Florence Hanlin of Locust
Grove, VA, and Robert of Cheltenham, PA.
Friends will
be received on Tuesday from 10-11AM at Sacred heart of Jesus
Catholic Church, 554 W. Walnut St., Lancaster, PA, with the
Memorial Mass to follow at 11AM, the Rev. Arokia Samson as
Celebrant. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery with
military honors rendered by the US Marine Corps.. In lieu of
