Mary
A. Long, 85, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, November 13,
2009 at Hamilton Arms. She was born in Lancaster to the late Pio
and Domenica (Cozzi) DiGiacomo.
Mary's husband
Kenneth G. Long preceded her in death in 1979. They were married
in Lancaster on September 29, 1951.
Mary was a
1942 McCaskey High School graduate.
She was a
forty-five year member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
She was
employed by RCA during WWII and as a hairdresser after the war.
She retired as a cook from Lombardo's Italian Restaurant after
twenty-eight years.
Mary enjoyed
playing softball, cooking, was an avid reader, and was very family
oriented.
She is
survived by three children, sons, Mark Long, of Lancaster, Michael
Long, of Lancaster, daughter, Marianne Dommel, wife of Robert, of
Lancaster, grandson Jeffrey Dommel, four great grandchildren,
Ivelise, Jeffrey Jr., Robert "Bobby", and Jasiya Dommel, brother,
James DiGiacomo, husband of Nancy, of Mt. Penn, PA, and nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia DiGiacomo
and brother Frank DiGiacomo.
Relatives and
friends are respectfully invited to attend the Mass of Christian
Burial from the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church 558 W.
Walnut St. Lancaster, PA on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 11am
with Rev. Michael E. Messner as Celebrant. A viewing will be held
at the church from 10-11am. Final Farewell and Commendation will
take place from St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Memorial
contributions in Mary's memory may be made to American Diabetes
Association 3544 N. Progress Ave Suite 101 Harrisburg, PA 17110.
