Edward
F. Leonard, Jr., 81, of Lancaster, passed away on November 6th,
2009 at the Hospice of Lancaster County in Mount Joy. Born in
Upper Darby, PA, he was the son of the late Edward F. Leonard, Sr.
and Mary C. Armstrong Leonard. He was also preceded in death by
his wife, Mary E. Kostrzewski Leonard, his brother, Joseph F.
Leonard and his sister, Elizabeth M. McCarthy.
Ed was a US Marine Corps veteran, served in China following World
War II. During the Korean War, he again served, being stationed
stateside as a supply sergeant. He was a graduate of Drexel
University in Civil Engineering. He worked as a civil engineer for
various construction companies in the central Pennsylvania and
Philadelphia areas for 25 years. Ed loved to ski, taking it up
when he turned 60. He also enjoyed reading about World War II
history and was also interested in photography.
He is survived by his son, Joseph M. and daughter-in-law, Terry L.
Leonard of Montreal, Quebec and his sister, Mary, and
brother-in-law, James Gallagher of Cherry Hill, NJ. He is also
survived by many, many nieces, nephews and wonderful neighbors.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at the Charles F.
Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA on Saturday,
November 21, 2009 from 12:30-1:00pm, with a Christian Prayer
Service to follow at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, please make
