Mary
W. Landis (Wenger), 84, of Lititz, passed away, Saturday, June 27,
2009 at Lancaster General Hospital after a short illness. Born in
Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Susan
(Becker) Wenger. Mary was the wife of the late David W. Landis,
who died in July of 1993.
Mary taught at
Lititz Elementary School for 30 years. She was a charter member of
Neffsville Mennonite Church, where she sang in the choir and was a
long-time Sunday School Teacher. Since her retirement, she had
travelled to 13 countries in 5 continents. Mary volunteered weekly
at Ten Thousand Villages in Ephrata.
She is
survived by 2 sons, Steven Landis, husband of Judy of Leola, and
Timothy Landis husband of Linda of Lititz, a daughter, Gwendolyn
Hostetter wife of Philip of Lancaster , 8 grandchildren, and 2
siblings, Ralph Wenger (Lancaster) and Rachel Carpenter
(Massachusetts).
She was
preceded in death by a brother, Harold, and 2 sisters, Verna Kautz
and Arlene Boll, all of Manheim.
A Funeral
Service will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Neffsville Mennonite
2371 Lititz Pike Lancaster, PA 17601 at
10 a.m.
with Rev. Harry Jarrett Officiating. Family and Friends will be
received Monday, July 6, 2009 from 5p.m.-8p.m. at the church and
again on Tuesday from 9a.m.-10a.m. at the church. Interment will
be at Hernley's Mennonite Cemetery, Manheim.
