Victor H.
Hecker, 86, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, December, 28,
2009 at Hospice of Lancaster County in Mount Joy.
He was the
husband of the late Yvonne N. Ruhl Hecker who passed away in 1998.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Frank X. and Theresa
Ernst Hecker.
Victor had
worked as a letter carrier with the US Postal Service for 30 years
until retiring in 1988. He was a member of the National Assn. of
Retired Federal Employees and the National Assn. of Lettercarriers.
A US Navy
veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater as a
Yeoman Second Class aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bunker Hill
and, at the war's end, on troop transport ships. He was a member
of Millersville VFW Post 7294.
Victor had
volunteered at the Office of Aging, at Lancaster Regional Medical
Center, and was a member of the Lancaster Senior Center on
Fairview Ave.
He was a
member of St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church, where he was a
member of the Mens Club.
He is survived
by his 3 daughters: Susan M. married to Richard J. Pillion of
Lancaster, Nancy J. Morrisson of Mechanicsburg, and Judy married
to Jere DeLeo of Lancaster; his four grandsons, and a great
granddaughter. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Joseph,
Frank, and John and 3 sisters, Lucy Hecker, Josephine
Wittensoldner, and Theresa Schreder.
Friends will
be received on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 from 10-11AM at St.
Philip The Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike,
Lancaster, PA, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at
11AM, the Rev. Norman Hohenwater as Celebrant. Interment will be
private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers,
please make contributions in his memory to Hospice of Lancaster
County, 685 Good Dr., Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
