Ruth
Elizabeth Hoffman Hake, 90, of Landis Homes and formerly of 291
Old Delp Road, Lancaster, died Wednesday. Ruth worked in York as
a licensed beautician when she was much younger but was a
homemaker most of her life. She was a member of St. Peter's
Evangelical Lutheran Church. From 1954 to 1988, she was a member
of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she served on the Altar Guild.
Ruth was a Red Cross Volunteer at Lancaster General Hospital and
volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed crafts including
Ukranian eggs and she enjoyed keeping her grandchildren when they
were very young.
Born in Bair
Station, York, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul V.
Hoffman and Suria Strausbaugh Hoffman. Ruth was married to the
late Albert C. Hake for 62 years. Surviving are two daughters,
Dianne L. Williams, Neffsville, and Phyllis E. Wimer, married to
Robert C. Wimer, Sr., Lancaster. Also surviving are four
grandchildren: Robin Andrews, Lancaster, Shirley Williams,
Neffsville, Robert C. Wimer, Jr., Hershey, and Rebecca Williams,
Lancaster, six great-grandchildren and four great-great
grandchildren.
Friends will
be received on Monday, December 7, 2009 from 10:30AM to 11AM at
the chapel at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 Delp
Rd., Lancaster, PA with the funeral service to follow at 11AM.
Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please
