Frances
H. Hager of 1515 Quarry Lane, Lancaster, died at the age of 93 on
January 2, 2009 at her home, after a brief illness. She was the
widow of Redmond C. "Bobby" Hager who died in 1988.
Born in Lancaster in 1915, she was the daughter of Frank A. and
Elise Hurter Heckendorn. Frances attended Lancaster City schools
and after high school graduation, worked at the Hager Store, where
she met her husband, Bobby. They married in 1939. Her focus then
turned to that of mother and homemaker, raising three daughters.
Frances and Bobby spent many happy years with their children at
The Maples, on Columbia Avenue. She and Bobby moved to Quarry Lane
in 1981.
Frances is survived by her sister, Jane H. Abel, who resides at
Willow Valley, her two daughters, Dr. Margaret H. Hager,
Philadelphia, and Dr. Katherine H. Plotnicov, Pittsburgh, by
three grandchildren: Christian A. Hartleben, Dr. Lara H. Addiego
and Alexei R. Plotnicov, as well as by two great- grandsons: Ben
and Connor Addiego. Nieces and nephews also survive. Frances was
pre-deceased by her brother, Franklin Heckendorn, her eldest
daughter, Elise Hager Calder, and her grandson, Andrei M.
Plotnicov. Her love, grace and generosity will be missed by all
who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at Charles Snyder Funeral Home,
441 N. George Street Millersville on Saturday, January 10th.
Visitation will begin at 2 PM with the memorial service following
at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be
