Harold
C. Grannas, 88, passed away on Tuesday morning, June 23, 2009 at
St. Anne's Retirement Community.
He was the
husband of the late Margaret E. Ala Grannas, who passed away in
2006. Born in Altoona, PA, Harold was the son of the late Richard
and Emma Oswald Grannas.
Harold had
been an instructor at the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology
for 33 years, until retiring in 1983. He had also taught
previously at Punxatawny High School, the Los Angeles School
District, and the Doylestown School District.
He was a
member of the PA Area Retired State Employees (PARSE), the Society
of Automotive Engineers, the Knights of Columbus, and Millersville
VFW Post 7942.
Harold served
in World War II in the US Army in the Coastal Artillery.
He was a
member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
He is survived
by his son, John T. of Huntingdon, PA; his granddaughter Kristin
L. Grannas of Lansing, MI, and his 5 nephews: Richard, Kenneth,
Ronald, Lawrence, and Robert Grannas. He was preceded in death by
a daughter, Mary Ann Grannas Geus, his brothers, Raymond and
Richard Grannas.
Friends and
family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on
Friday at 10AM from the Chapel at St. Anne's Retirement Village,
3952 Columbia, Ave., Columbia, PA 17512, with Msgr. Richard
Onwuanibe as Celebrant. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in
