John
E. Good, Jr., 84, formerly of Mountville and Strasburg, died
Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown. His
wife of 42 years, Pearl L. Hullihen Good, died in July of 2007.
Born and raised in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John E.
and Delilah Marks Good.
Following graduation from McCaskey High School in 1943, John
served during WWII in Central Europe as a gun crewman in the Army
with Battery C 412th Armored Field Artillery Battalion 20 Armored
Division. He then worked as an electrician and supervisor for
Riggs Distler & Co. in Lancaster for 35 years, where he met his
wife Pearl.
John was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical
Workers Local 734, Reading, Lamberton Lodge #476 F.& A.M.,
Lancaster, Valley of Lancaster, Valley of Reading, A.A.O.N.M.S.
Zembo Temple, Walter S. Ebersole American Legion Post #184, Mount
Joy, Reese-Hall VFW Post #8757, Mountville and AAA. He enjoyed
working in the Roosters Woodshop at Masonic Village.
Surviving John are two daughters, Susan L., wife of James
Williams, Manheim and Brenda L., wife of David Loechner, Lititz;
three stepchildren, William M. Hoffmeier, Lampeter, Brian M.
Hoffmeier, Salunga and Linda L. Hoffmeier, Manheim; ten
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
His brothers James M. and Robert E. preceded John in death.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: Monday, November 23rd at 3 PM, in the Sell
Chapel at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, with The Rev. A. Preston
Van Deursen officiating. Private interment in Conestoga Memorial
