Benedict
Fusco, 69, of East Petersburg, PA passed away on Wednesday, March
4, 2009 at Hospice of Lancaster County. He was born on October 21,
1939 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Paul and Francis (DeAngelo)
Fusco.
Benedict was
the husband of Natalie (Torregrossa) Fusco for 46 years. They were
married in Brooklyn, NY on April 28, 1962.
Benedict was
of the Catholic faith and a member of St. John Neumann Catholic
Church.
He was
employed by Stauffer's of Kissel Hill (Lititz Store) for thirteen
years working as the grocery store head butcher. He was known for
his famous hand made sausages and Italian cooking. Before moving
to Lancaster he owned a butcher shop in Brooklyn, NY known as
Benny's Meat Market for 35 years.
Benedict held
memberships in the Sons of Italy and the National Hot Rod
Association (NHRA). He enjoyed stock and drag car racing, running,
being health conscious, spending time with his children and
grandchildren, and his dog, Onyx. He was very proud of running in
the News Day Marathon in Long Island, NY.
Surviving in
addition to his wife is a son, Benedict Fusco Jr. of Brooklyn, NY,
three daughters, Susan Swanson wife of Eric of Cape Coral, FL,
Debra Ann Fusco of E. Petersburg, and Malissa Ann Fusco of Middle
Island, NY, three grandchildren Frances Angela Siragusa, Theresa
Marie Siragusa, and Eric J. Swanson II, four sisters, Carmella,
Agnes, Frances, and Pauline, two brothers, Cono husband of Carol,
and Paul, a sister-in-law Jeanie Hubbs wife of Bruce,
sister-in-law Diana Viscardi wife of John, and many loving nieces
and nephews. Preceded in death is a grandson Nicholas Anthony
Siragusa IV and a brother-in-law Francis Anthony Torregrossa Jr.
Relatives and
friends are respectively invited to attend the Christian Prayer
Service on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 11am from the Charles F.
Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pk, Lititz, PA
17543, 717-560-5100 with Rev. Paul Oye. Viewings will be held at
the funeral home on Friday, March 6 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and again
on Saturday from 9-11am. Final farewell and commendation will take
