Jim has been a true inspiration and mentor to the men, women and children of the BCCNS Life Support Network.  His brave battle against this invasive condition was nothing short of heroic. His humor, teasing, vigor for sports, (especially Nascar and the Phillies), devotion to family, and passion for life, made me want to be a better person, and find a cure.

He kept the enemy in sight, yet didn't let it control his life. Jim had Gorlin Syndrome, but it did not have him, and he refused to give into it. He was steadfast in his attempts to overcome the obstacles that declining health thrust upon him, and fought the fight with integrity and honor. He was courageous as he volunteered to test experimental drugs, by participating in clinical trials,  which may work in the future for children he will never know.  He inspired many by his positive approach to life, always giving and reaching out to others. Even in death, his spirit of giving lives on, through his choice to be an organ donor.

I am proud to know Jim Finkbiner, and we all love him.  Upstanding, compassionate son, husband, father, uncle, parishioner, colleague, friend and advocate.  You have earned your place in heaven.  God has mercifully taken away your pain, and claimed you as his own.  Thank you for being a true role model for those of us who tremble and miss you so very much. We are stronger and better for having known you. God's Speed and deserved rest to you, my friend. I will never forget you.

We're sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He is with God now and looking down on us. While our time was limited together we had some good times together. I remember taking Jim hunting for deer in the mountains. He had a blast and yes even got a deer. Jim will be missed and our prayers go out to you.

Our hearts are saddened by your loss of husband, father and our friend, Jim. We will miss his humor, smile and his great dedication to his favorite sports teams. When we first met Jim, it was like we had known him all our lives. Such was his easy going style and zest for life. Jim didn't talk a lot about his trials and struggles, yet we knew he battled to stay positive and encourage others to "fight the good fight". Although Jim had BCCNS, the disease NEVER had him. Jim was our role model and mentor.

The Roth family will always remember July 4th, 2009, with the Finkbiners!!
