Donald
E. Eves Sr., 84, of Lititz died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 after
a long illness. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late
Raymond E. and Lillian Debus Eves. Donald was the husband of Donna
Little Eves and they were married for 4years and dated for 10
years before they were married. He was preceded in death by his
first wife Edith J. Eves who died in 1992.
Donald worked
in the Shipping and Receiving Department at Armstrong World
Industries from 1942-1988. He was the Union President of Local 285
from 1976-1984 and current President of the Retirees of Armstrong.
He was a 50 year member of the American Legion Post 0034. He
attended St. James Catholic Church in Lititz, where he was a
member of the Silver Liners. He was a member of the Dutchland
Polkateers.
He served his
country in the Army during World War II.
His hobbies
included landscaping, gardening, bowling, hunting and especially
loved taking care of his home on Letort Road, Washington Boro.
Surviving
besides his wife, Donna are his two sons: Donald E. Eves Jr. and
his companion Doris Farber, Brownstown, Barry N. husband of Sandy
Eves, Millersville, five daughters: Karen Sue wife of Donald H.
Speece, Lancaster, Kathleen J. wife of Wayne L. Morrison,
Columbia, Wanda J. wife of Richard R. Reincke Jr., Cambridge, MD,
Patti A. Stirn, Lancaster, Kristy Lou Eves, Millersville, PA,
three stepdaughters: Diana Little, York, Kathleen Pickell, Denver,
PA, Amy Luttman, Wrightsville, 19 grandchildren, 15 great
grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 4 step- great grandchildren,
and a sister: Doris Giaquinto, Reno, Nevada. He was preceded in
death by a brother Raymond E. Eves Jr. and a sister, Helen Sawyer.
Mass of
Christian Burial will be held at St. James Catholic Church, 505
Woodcrest Ave, Lititz, Pa on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 11:00AM.
Interment will be in Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery,
Millersville, Pa. There will be a viewing at the church on Monday
from 9:30-11:00AM. Please omit flowers. Contributions may be made
in Donald's memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125,
Lancaster, Pa 17604. Arrangements are by the Charles F. Snyder Jr.
