Donat Sabatine Jr., born July 23, 1928 in Lancaster passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Essa Flory Hospice Center. He was the son of the late Mary (Yecker) and Donat Sabatine Sr. Donat was the loving husband of Helen (Shiel) Sabatine, this past September 25th they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Donat graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1946. After he graduated he served his country in the Army. Donat worked for the Local 520 Pipe Fitters and Plumbers Union for 54 years. During his employment, he constructed the piping system to St. Joseph Hospital, Lancaster General Hospital, Limerick, Peach Bottom, and Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Plants. He was the longest serving member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree, active for 62 years. Donat was a life long member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife Helen, are 2 daughters; Evelyn Sabatine Farabaugh of Lancaster and Claire Sabatine Weaver (Dr. Brian Weaver) of York; a grandson Matthew Weaver; sisters Agnes Meyer of Titusville, FL. and M. Grace Mellinger of Lancaster; and a brother Joseph G. Sabatine of Conestoga. He is preceded in death by brothers Fabian, Paul, and Leo Sabatine and sisters Anne McDermott and Margaret Williams. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 501 East Orange St. 17602 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Mitzel as celebrant. Interment will take place following the service at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery, Chestnut St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Lancaster County 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604 or St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 501 East Orange St. Lancaster, PA 17602. |
