 Kristina
E. Skiadas, age 59, passed away on May 6, 2007 in Dover, New
Jersey, of natural causes.
Kristina Elizabeth Almqvist was born on March 1, 1948 in
Karlskrona, Sweden, and spent her youth in the town of Lund.
She went on to receive her B.A. and M.A. degrees in History
from Lund University, after which she moved to Lancaster, PA.
She raised her son Taki with her husband, George Skiadas,
while managing various divisions of the family's restaurant
and gift businesses.
In her later years, she followed her passion for travel and
new experiences by relocating to the shores of Belize, where
she divided her time between a successful restaurant business
venture and various community arts initiatives. She returned
to the U.S. after being diagnosed with cancer, where she was
able to spend her last weeks with her son and several close
friends.
She is survived by her son, Taki Skiadas, currently residing
in New York, a brother, Bengt, and a sister Eva, both
currently living in Lund, Sweden.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held on
Sunday, June 24, at the Lancaster Unitarian Universalist
Church at 3:00 pm. Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, Lancaster,
assisting the family. |
