Richard E. Berry, 85, of Lancaster, PA and formerly of
Jensen’s Country Lakes in Little River, SC, died Monday
September 17, 2007 at Conestoga View Nursing Home.
Born in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Peter and
Flossie (Haidel) Berry. He was the loving husband of Marion L.
(Martin) Berry.
Mr. Berry was a purchasing expeditor for Foster Wheeler Corp.
for many years. He served in the US Navy during WWII in the
South Pacific as a Chief Petty Officer on LST 45. Richard was
a Purple Heart recipient and a member of Post 186 American
Legion and Post 10804 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a
member of Little River United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughters, Janet
Johnson of Mountaintop, PA; Karen O’Neil, wife of Keith of
Morristown, NJ; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Dell, wife of Stephen
of Lancaster, PA; a stepson, Martin Garinger, husband of Tonya
of Hurricane, WV; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and
a brother, Lewis Berry of Ocala, FL.
Funeral Services will be held on
Saturday Sept 22, 2007 at Hempfield
United Methodist Church, Lancaster, at 1:30PM with Pastor
Keith Braucher officiating. Friends and family may call
prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions in Richard’s memory can be made to the
Alzheimer’s Assoc., South Carolina Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd,
