Harold E. "Gene" Hornberger, 81, of 117 South Walnut St., Lititz, PA died Oct. 27, 2006 at the Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center.  

Born in Lititz, PA, he was the son of the late Adam and Estella Shenberger Hornberger. Gene was married to Elizabeth A. (Libby) Shroy Hornberger. He was preceded in death by his first wife Gladys Shenberger Hornberger who died in 1975.  

Gene was maintenance superintendent at the former Howmet Company He was a member of United Methodist Church in Lititz. Gene served in the US Navy from 1943-1946. He was a member of Lititz American Legion and VFW and Elstonville Sportsman’s Club.  

Surviving besides his wife are four sons: Jeffrey Hornberger of Manheim; Stanley Roger Gainer of Elizabethtown; Dennis Scott Gainer of Colorado; and Terry Robin Gainer of Mountville; two daughters, Mary Jo Shaub of Lititz and April Lin Smith of Annville; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betsy Frank and a brother, A. Milton Hornberger. 

A Memorial Service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA on Monday at 11AM. Friends may pay their respects to the family at the funeral home from 10-11AM. Please omit flowers.
