Wilma A. Cannizzaro

Wilma A. Cannizzaro, 93, formerly of 122 Greenview Dr., died Tuesday at Evergreen Estates in Lancaster.

She was the wife of the late Dr. Anthony B. Cannizzaro, DDS,, who died in 1992. Born in Fort Madison, Iowa, Wilma was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Amelia Spiekemeir Helling.

She had worked as the office manager for her husband’s dental practice for 10 years. Previously, she was a hairstylist in St Louis and a homemaker.

She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, and was a former member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where she had been an active volunteer in varied aspects of the church for many years. Wilma had also volunteered at the former St. Joseph Hospital, and enjoyed quilting and gardening. She was also a member of the Womens Auxiliary of the Lancaster Dental Society.

She is survived by a daughter: Beverly W. Cannizzaro married to John Gall of Arlington, VA; 3 sons: Ronald C.  married to Anne Cannizzaro of Reston VA, Gerald A.  married to Cecilia Cannizzaro of Oakton, VA, and Michael F. Cannizzaro of Shelton, CT; and 6 grandchildren: Cristin Purgeson, Kimberly, Sean, Scott, Mark, and Stephen Cannizzaro.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 6-8PM at the Charles Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday at 11AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA, with interment to follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
