Robert
S. “Bucky” Buckwalter, 85, of Lititz, died April 21, 2011 at
Hospice of Lancaster County. He was the husband of Patricia M.
Gerhart Buckwalter for 54 years. Born in Lititz, Bucky was the son
of the late Elam and Iva Stump Buckwalter.
Bucky
graduated from Manheim Township High School and then served in the
US Army during World War II with the 91st Photo
Reconnaissance Squadron as an airplane and engine mechanic and a
gunner. He was the owner of the former Central Milling Company in
Leola and then worked for the former Daffin Manufacturing in
Lancaster.
His
memberships included Manheim Lodge #587 F. & A.M., Garden Spot
American Legion #56, Lititz, and lifetime member of Lititz Springs
VFW Post #1463, and he was a 32nd Degree Mason. Bucky
was also a member of Long Memorial United Methodist Church in
Neffsville.
Surviving in
addition to his wife Patricia, are his children Robert S., Jr.,
husband of Carol Buckwalter, Lancaster and Julie A., wife of
Rodric Lehr, Lebanon; one grandson, three step-grandchildren and
five step-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Lois Stehman,
Lancaster, Margaret Worner, Glenolden, Mary, wife of John Markley,
Lancaster, and Patricia, wife of Dr. Glen S. Breidenstine,
Lancaster. His brother John Buckwalter preceded Robert in death.
A Memorial
Service will be held 2PM Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Charles F.
Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA
with The Rev. Rodney E. Miller officiating. Friends will be
received from 1-2PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will
